In other news...

On the 31st of May, I DJ'd and also...

...I shaved my head.

Apparently it suits me - but I need to get some tan on it cos I have large white patches :D

So I now have a lovely new Hannspree Xv-S GT03-E2 37" LCD TV at Jams house now and have relocated one my Xboxen (running XBMC) as well. It, quite frankly, is awesome! Now just need some HD content and something capable of playing it. Fortunately, XBMC upscales all my existing SD content, so I'm happy :)

Although, I have now discovered that I have purchased this just in time for Jam to be sat in front if it watching BB9 continually - doh!

Still got lots on at the moment and still haven't tried any of the goat I purchased a couple of weeks back. This weekend however, I will be relocating some from the freezer where it is stored to more handy freezer at Jams, so I will actually use it next week...

Bank Holiday

So the May Bank Holiday has been and gone. And what an utter crap one (weather wise) it was too. Of course, the one good thing is that my home town was not set upon by millions of cackling grockles. My orginal plan, once the kids had gone home and I was at Jams (from around 2pm), was to watch films, drink and be debauched. In truth, I fell asleep for 6 hours... Jam spent a few hours by herself while I dozed, doing this and that until she finally managed to wake me around 9.30... Doh!

The next Bank Holiday isn't until August and thats my FrightFest and Wedding weekend (busy, busy boy!). As I am attending a wedding on the Saturday (coming back from London early on Saturday and returning early on the Sunday morning), I really hope the weather is better.

This next few weeks are quite busy, DJing on Saturday night, Charity Walk on Sunday, DJing next Friday and DJing a wedding party the Saturday after that. Plus tomorrow evening Jam and I are going for an curry with Spoon, Charles, Chaka, James, Demus, Dave and CBear.

I also have parcels to collect, fancy dress to organise for this weekend, laptops to rebuild and drinks out.

Moving towards a more techie nature - over the weekend I swapped out the following -

P3-1Ghz SFF PC running Smoothwall
USB ADSL Modem
Cisco 2924XL Switch
Belkin 54g Access Point

- for a single Belkin Wireless-G ADSL router with built-in switch. So I can now rebuild the PC into a machine for Rhiannon, removing her P4 machine (she only browsed the web on it) and rebuilding that into my "SME Server" box replacing another P3-1Ghz SFF PC - which will then be donated to a worthy cause somewhere.

I also have a busted HP DC7100 (maybe) Desktop that needs repairing - I think the PSU has gone tits up (was lent to someone who then broke it!) so need to see if I can get that sorted. Tricky thing is finding the correct model for it... Here we come google and eBay! Once that is working, that will go to Rhiannon and the older SFF PC can also be recycled/donated. Then it was just be a matter of migrating away from my Naslite box onto something a little faster/smaller/more economic :)

Dumb Asses!

Something has struck me about how dumb some people are.

If someone told you that their email address was [email protected], then you make a note and thats that. If however, someone tells you that their email address is [email protected] - what is the first thing you do?

Me/intelligent people/stalkers will go and visit drunkenferret.com to find out if there is anything of interest. And then [gasp in amazement] maybe even put the domain name into google and see what crops up, what links to it, etc

The number of people who get my email address but then never find this place amazes me. So if you are someone that has done that, then Welcome. If you have had my address for some time but have only just done it - then Welcome (although you have obviously been slightly touched by the 'tard brush). I won't say anything to the others - cos they aren't here of course. They are just fucktards!

Oh and in the past 2 weeks I have purchase 1Tb of external USB hard disk storage. And moved the 250Gb drive from my PC into an external enclosure. And backed up *all* of my music. And got a laptop back. And have now dedicated a laptop purely to my DJing. And might sell 2 of the others to get some money back to spend on something nice...

Dun-dundundun-dun-dud-durr!

So - Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull... We drove up to Vue in Cribbs Causeway around 11.20, after Spoon and his boyfriend (who I dont have a name for yet) and Chaka had gone home (I provided freshly cooked Steak & Kidney pie that Squinty had made that day - and fucking awesome it was too. I shall be getting him make more soon!) in order to watch the 12:01am showing. So lots of effort made, money paid for tickets and...

What a fucking letdown! Too much "comedy", too little storyline and action sequences were over the top.

I give it 4/10 - cos I was that excited and that disappointed. Ho-hum!

Then last night I went to the pub for a bit, came back to Jams a little mashed, spent time with Pliers and Krill (including dozing on the sofa - again), ate and then didn't want to get up this morning at all.

This weekend I've got the kids until Monday morning and then the rest of Bank Holiday Monday I shall be spending with Jam doing stuff and maybe meeting up with friends for a curry in the evening. Then Wednesday a truckload of us are going to Posh Spice for yet another curry, but this time a buffet meal which should be quite amazing.

I reckon work should be over by mid-June, as I had a go at everyone involved on Wednesday about the fact that I was days behind on my close down work cos of other work they had given me. So I am just gonna be a cunt from now on and say "no" to everything and everyone at work. Just because...

Oh and a big shout out to Chaka who has confessed to being a new reader of my blog. Chaka is Jam's sister (one of a pair of twins - the other one being Demus) and older sister to Pliers and who works literally next door to where I do (this is all here so there is no doubt that Chaka recognise that I am talking about her) *waves*

Also, finding out that "new" people are reading this leaves me in a little bit of a dilemma. How much information should I reveal here? Should I really be talking about all the donkey rape and the stolen art treasures? But then again, proper readers will go back through all the posts and the archives and work out that I just wibble on about all sorts of boring crap and hardly ever pen anything of interest. Or maybe I do!?!?!?!?!

OMFG!

Just watched the finale to Season 8 of CSI:Las Vegas and frankly MUTHAFUCKING WHAT?

Seriously, it is the ending to a season to beat all season cliffhangers. If you aren't watching Season 8 - start doing so now, you won't regret it :)

I seem to be on a new quest to actually see films at the cinema - we saw Iron Man the Friday before we went to Berlin and possibly we shall be going to the 12:01 showing tomorrow night at Vue, Cribbs Causeway to see the Indiana Jones film! That should be awesome.

Other news? Erm. Dunno - I am having a mind blank atm...

Berlin (more) plus more... erm!

Thursday
After Wednesday mammoth walkathon, we got up early, breakfasted, booked out (leaving our luggage at the hostel) and headed off for yet another walking tour - but this time - a mainstream tourist one. This was free (relying on tips) run by Sandemans New Europe. It was very informative and took us around the major sites in Berlin both in West and East Berlin and very good it was too. Highly recommended and very different from the previous days one. We then headed back to the hostel, collected our stuff and made our way to the airport to come home :(

Friday
I worked from home :)

Anyhoo, there seems to be interest in what job future - so here goes:

  • I am being made redundant
  • My notice period goes to the end of July
  • I get 6months pay as my settlement
  • I get to make a final payment on my HCI purchased screen and laptop and then they are all mine
  • My boss has said that once I have finished all my work - I can go on gardening leave until the end of my notice period
  • 2 others from the UK part of the account are also leaving along with 10+ in Ireland

What I am going to do next - I have no idea and I wont decide that for a couple of months. So if anyone knows of any short term work going anywhere or contracts doing pretty much anything, let me know :)

I have been buying shedloads of music from eBay to bolster my available DJ gear (you need the originals in case you get questioned about the MP3s). Before I went to Berlin, I went shopping and bought some new clothes and have just purchased this, cos I am a geek!

Berlin

I'm gonna update this throughout the evening as I dont have the time to do it all at once right now, so if you are reading it and it seems incomplete - come back later :)

Bank Holiday Monday, Jam and I flew to Berlin from Bristol. An uneventful flight (although the journey there was quite exciting as we got stuck in traffic at the North Somerset Show and Pliers - one of Jams sisters - boyfriend got stressed and panicky but got us there with 5 mins to spare)...

We got to Berlin, found the train station, got the train, changed trains and found ourselves at the correct station ready to look for the hostel. I suddenly got worried cos I hadn't brought directions from the station to the hostel but Jam looked over my shoulder and said "Its there babe" and indeed it was - the building right behind me. Generator Berlin Hostel is the largest in the city - with 900 rooms, so as you can imagine, it was pretty fucking massive! So we booked in and then went out for our first German meal - at Burger King...

Tuesday
We got up late and spent the day wandering around the area near Alexanderplatz. Mitte I think the district is called. Found a place I would love to live in and bought a Simpsons wind up music box from a little Jewish toy shop. Also found an Ampelmann shop and bought presents from there. We walked around loads and by the end of the evening, my feet were killing me.

Wednesday
We got up early and headed back to Alexanderplatz and met up with the Alternative Berlin tour. And man - was it alternative! We saw some amazing sites around East Berlin (not much in the West as there isnt much to see) and did some slightly dubious activities. One of the weirdest was walking through a gap in the wall and finding myself at a Beach Bar - complete with sand, volley ball, etc going on. And then looking around and seeing office blocks and factories all around you. Brilliant! We left the tour before they went onto their "Not Pub Crawl" and headed back to the hostel.
