And it gets worse...

Of course, what I failed to realise is that with the new season starting - so would some new shows!

So add to the list - Chuck, Journeyman, K-ville and Reaper! And I forgot to mention being mid season on Robot Chicken!

This week sees the season finale to The IT Crowd. Some teasers can be found here and here.

Oh joy! So much telly, so little time :)

TV Countdown

So here we are - nearly at the end of September and you know what that means...

Oh. You don't?

Well, it means that the autumn schedule for US TV is about to start - new seasons, new series', season restarts.

Here's what I'm looking forward to:

23rd September
Cold Case - Season 5
Family Guy - Season 7

24th September
Two and a Half Men - Season 5
Heroes - Season 2
CSI: Miami - Season 6

25th September
Bones - Season 3

26th September
The Bionic Woman - Season 1
CSI: New York - Season 4

27th September
CSI - Season 8

30th September
American Dad - Season 4
Dexter - Season 2

And then on the 25th October - Scrubs returns for its 7th Season!

Along with Monk and Psych (which are mid-season), catching up with the last season of Sleeper Cell and of course the fantastically brilliant "The IT Crowd", my TV watching schedule needs some rejigging. Add in the 3 WWE shows I watch per week (Raw, Smackdown and ECW plus all the PPVs) and it could all start to get hectic. I think I will need about 15 hours per week to watch everything...

So should I be cutting down on the TV watching, cutting down on the social life or cutting down on the sleep?

Last Night

No - not the song by P.Diddy and Keisha Cole. Played a set at The Alex - mixed up early 80s pop with late 80/early 90s house- went down a storm and had loads of people coming up with requests, thanks, etc

Got home at 6ish this morning - after kicking a stale panini all the way home. It was rock hard when I found it and after being kicked a few miles - was still intact and in good condition - I mean, you could build with it for gods sake... I shall take a picture of it I think :)

Superb!

Last night I met up with Andy and Ian, went out for a curry, some drinks and lots of chatting and laughing. We are a pretty odd trio I think, but we all get on really well and the conversations really should be recorded :)

This morning I went to collect the disco stuff. 2 MASSIVE speakers, 2 stands with T-Bars and a load of lighting. All to be cleaned and tested this evening. It would appear that all I'm missing right now is an amplifier, so I might need to dust off my old Yamaha amp from the garage (2x 100W), stick it in "Pure Direct" mode, add some smaller speakers to the solution (it can drive 4 in total) and test it all out together. Fun, fun, fun!

I am currently sat at my desk, sipping a glass of PIMMS (with lemonade, a slice of lemon, slice of lime and a mint leaf), while munching on finger sandwiches, cakes and a scones with cream. You gotta love working for crazy companies sometimes :)

Birthday, holidays and things

So Friday August 10th saw me hitting the ripe old age of 36! Yes, 36. Although the previous weekend, someone told me I looked 28, so that was nice :)

I got lots of cards, lots of texts and 1 present. That was from my 2 kids - they paid for me to have a tattoo done to alter the SHELL on my neck. I had the tattoo done on the Saturday just gone (with the kids) by my friend Steve at Crazy Ink. When it has calmed down, I will post some pictures. Once again, the tattooing didnt hurt much until he started doing a star on a pressue point. I said to him "That hurts a bit"...

Last week, I was on holiday with the kids and spent a few days at Croyde Bay, Devon, camping. It was very windy and very rainy but we enjoyed it immensely. On the second day, we had to relocate the tent, as our original pitch had been double booked! Cue the scene of 1 adult and 2 small children walking through a camp site with a fully assembled tent in the wind and rain - must have looked hilarious as we tried not to get blown away.

On the way back from the break, we stopped off at Tropiquaria again, as the kids had loved it so much last time we went. Then home and back to normal-ish life.

Friday night, saw John and I DJing for an engagement party at Stotties from 8 til 12 - mostly playing Motown and Cheese (with a random selection of R&B and Dance thrown in). If one more drunk person had come up and asked for "anyfing by Cascada" I might have gone mad or at least tried to electrocute them.

Thursday sees me off to London for FrightFest 2007 but I am returning home on Saturday to do a DJ gig for a friends b/day party and then going back on the Sunday). Fortunately, I have already seen 2 of the films from that day and have another re-scheduled, so I am only missing a couple over all. Better that, than waste any of the 140 ticket. Plus I might get some pocket money for performing on the evening...

...which leads me on to this evening. Straight after work, its round to Pauls dads garage to raid it for speakers, lighting, etc, etc. I think all I will need is an anmplifier, which will then leave me with an entire DJ outfit, ready to party. Then I can start advertising and start getting a little income for myself :)

The following Friday, I am playing the Alex again - this time by myself, as I think John will be on holiday in Corfu with our friend Mark. Thats 2 gigs within a week of themselves - alone! I'm looking forward to it - although I do need some more cheese burnt to CD for me to play, as people do seem to like cheese :o

2 Updates in 2 Days

So the not smoking is still going well. Haven't had any cravings (or if I have, I've mistaken them for something else or my will power is just not letting me notice them).

Last night I soft-modded my Xbox and installed XBMC onto it. It plays absolutely everything I have thrown at it (wonky encoded Xvids, random MPG files, OGM files, etc). I have discovered that I need to rename a lot of my movies though, as I'm getting a lot of wrong thumbnails and movie info, etc :)

I've also ordered an Xbox DVD remote so that I can control the thing entirely from that instead of having the Xbox controller lead running across the room. It also means I dont have to have my laptop on my bed just so I can watch films and downloaded TV, etc

Speaking of downloaded TV - I have been watching Traveler - a frankly brilliant thriller from ABC in the US. Watched up to episode 8 - a brilliant episode with loads of cliff hangers - only to find that ABC had scrapped the series and there were no more after that! AAARRRRGGGHHHH!!!! Basts...

Wet Weekends

Last weekend saw myself, Sarah, Kate, Rae, Maud and Amanda Jane going camping in Woolacombe. There was much fun attempting to put the tent up - which was finally managed with the assistance of the inhabitants to 2 other tents and eventually it was in a tent shape and we got inside. Then I found the instructions...

I might not have been particularly popular at that moment in time :o

During the day on Saturday, we played tennis, crazy golf, had a spa, got a massage (thanks to Maud), ate some ace sausages (thanks Amanda Jane) then hit the clubhouse for some entertainment.

Which would have been fine apart from the fact that I got called up on the stage and the cabaret act sang "Bobbys Girl" to me. Arse!

We got back early on Sunday, showered and headed into town for a roast lunch and then beerage! A top weekend all round :)

On another note, over the past few months I have been DJ'ing once a month at The Alexandra bar on a Friday night with John. And I've really got into it - really enjoyable stuff.

Friday just gone was probably the best set I've played. Instead of preparing my tranche of songs in advance (while John was doing his set), I planned the first one and then did it by ear depending on whether people were dancing or not. I dropped a few classic tracks in and away we went. Once I remember what I played, I'll start putting some set lists up.

I could do with a bigger crowd really... Maybe a couple of thousand chanting, jumping, loons :)

Saying that, I've been booked for a 21st birthday bash at the end of the month, John and I for a leaving party next month and myself again for Brendan and Kate's wedding next March (2 sets on the night)!

So my "rig" currently consists of:

Laptop with 2 soundcards (internal and USB external) running Virtual DJ
Numark CDMIX1 (dual CD decks and integral mixer)
Various Cables

Currently in the post is a new mixer and fairly soon an amp - meaning I just need speakers and lights to complete it. The speakers I am getting from my mate Paul (an ex-DJ who stopped gigging years ago but still has all the gear in his dads garage) and also some lighting bits I think.

Friday night saw me drinking cocktails thanks to Rachel behind the bar - a Black Russion to start with, followed by something containing Cointreau, Archers and Lemonade followed by a double Tequila and Coke! That last one was disgusting. I like Tequila and I like Coke - but mixed together was just plain wrong...

I need to leave work early today so that I can visit the M&S foodhall at Cribbs Causeway on the way home (as well expecting the landlord to turn up and get his rent) to purchase some chocolate tea-cakes which they currently have on offer (16 for 99p). If you like chocolate tea-cakes (biscuit & marshmallow covered in chocolate), then I recommend the M&S ones - they are the best ones I have ever tasted, so I am going to stock up :)

Oh and on Friday night, I gave up smoking. I had the last of my cheap/free fags from abroad and had promised the kids that when they had gone, I'd give up. They have, so I have. I'll keep you updated on how its going :)
