So here is a cool thing. A few months ago, I posted about how to use SSH tunneling to allow RDP to work to your home desktop.
Well, now I've gone a step further.
I now have tunnels setup for the following:
smtps
ldaps
squid
This means, that by firing up a single SSH session, I can RDP to my desktop machine, access/send mail using a local client from my mail server at home *and* surf the web anonymously.
So after installing PortableApps suite on my pen drive and pointing Thunderbird to my SSH tunnel to the mail server - I can send/receive my mail from whereever I am.
And, because I have squid installed on a box at home, pointing Firefox at the SSH tunnel to it, means my web requests go down the tunnel to home, out to net, back to the proxy, back down the tunnel to moi!
How cool is that!
Friday night I shall be DJing at the Alexandra Bar in Weston. A set list will be provided over the weekend - depending on whether it went down well or not :)
