What a weekend!

Blimey! What a weekend I had...

First up, Andy (Mr Man) came down from Bristol and we headed to Back Bar to see Balance of Power. And verily they did rock! With covers of Van Halen, Journey, Queen, David Lee Roth, Bon Jovi and many more they had the whole place going. Once again, the failed to disappoint.

During the set break, I asked their keyboard player (Barb) if she could send me a gig list - and this morning it arrived in my inbox. So here it is:

Oct
Sat 7th Blues Club - Portland
Fri 13th Plume of Feathers - Sherborne
Sat 21st Little Ship - Portland
Sat 28th Excise House - Weymouth

Nov
Fri 3rd George - Dorchester
Sat 11th Scallys - Weston Super Mare
Sat 25th Red Lion - Beaminster

Dec
Sat 2nd Plume of Feathers - Sherborne
Fri 8th George - Dorchester
Fri 15th Manor Arms - Burton
Sat 16th Ropemakers - Bridport
Thu 21st Cheese and Ale - Blandford
Fri 22nd Back Bar - Weston

There are a couple I will be going, but some are too far away (even if they are convenient).

Anyway, after the gig we headed to Cabot, where Andy stood, foot tapping at the edge of the dance floor, ogling the gyrating female forms in front of him. Me? I was wandering between Andy, friends on the dance floor and elsewhere in the Cabot, chatting here and there. A great night that was finished off sat in the dining room devouring Miss Millies. A top night!

Saturday saw my mate Jon come down for some beers, curry and general chit chat. Due to a misunderstanding over some information that I could have provided him earlier, the evening was spent with nervous laughter, panic stricken looks and claims of being a "bastard". We had a great night though.

In response to the comments he has made on his blog, I would like to put down some comments that some of my mates have replied when I've told them the situation. So here goes:

With Jon having previously avoided being injured by an identical bomb at the last minute, it would not be unreasonable for Tudor to expect Jon not to be so dim as to pick up the bomb again without thinking through the consequences.

and a response to his Haiku:

After losing arm.
That was put in Lion's cage.
Do not put head in.

Superb. Love you Jon! Hope you have managed to start implementing your DR plan...

In the news today, I came across this little nugget:
Parent wants Farenheit 451 banned.
I suspect that the parent in question hasn't really read the book or understands the deeper meaning behind it. The story is superb (and also made a great film thanks to Franois Truffaut) and is about a future where books are banned and burned. How ironic!

I have also put my plans for Xmas presents into action. I now have 90% of Rhiannon/Chandlers Xmas presents either stored away or ordered. Plus I still have 100 of Boots point to use up... Chandlers birthday (6th December) is the next thing I need to worry about...
