Another week that is. After a fairly uneventful few days (Tuesday/Wednesday with the kids, Thursday and Friday back at work), I managed to survive yet another weekend.
The weekend was topped off on Sunday evening with a visit to the Bristol Bierkeller with Mr Martin and Mr Paul. The reason for the visit - to see Skid 'Fucking' Row!
The first support band were called "Chick Shit" or "Grip Shit" or "Brit Stick" or something. Good drummer, good bassist, good guitarist, good singer - but it just didnt work. Especially when they followed up by HEAD-ON and quite frankly they were awesome. Check out their website and d/l their available tracks - if you like your music hard and heavy, you will not be disappointed.
After a little delay - Skid Row came out and quite literally pounded us with class. The new lead singer (replacing the nutty Sebastian Bach) has both the voice and the attitude and commands the stage.
They are all (well the 3 of 4 remaining band members who were there) looking older, but they hadn't lost any of their gusto and presence. With the amps up high, they attacked our hearing with "Monkey Business", "18 and Life", "Piece of Me", "Slave to the Grind", the original and new-punkish versions of "I Remember You", "Get The Fuck Out", some new ones from the new album and they finished it all off with a lengthy (and incredibly lively) version of "Youth Gone Wild".
The Bierkeller once again proved itself an excellent venue for getting up close and personal with a group of very talented musicians. They could see us, we could see them and they played it up perfectly. (Much better than the 'Mtley Cre' gig a few weeks back according to and Mr Martin).
Thunder is next on my list next year... my ears might have recovered by then :)
