Yesterday was fantastic. It has to be said that I really wasnt looking forward to it during the day, but when I got dressed as 4.30pm and we made our way to the first pub, I started getting into the mood.
By the time we got to La Tascas (Spanish/Mexican Tapas Restaurant), I was quite merry (mostly due to the amount of rum consumed). We had a great meal, a real laugh around the table and then we buggered off to the Bristol Bierkeller to see Electric 6!
The support act were called KidSymphony and they were OK. The lead singer looked a bit like Damon Albarn from Blur.
Electric 6 came on and launched immediately into their excellent gig. Short songs, loud and energetic and the crowd loved it. We were stood to the left of the stage next to the speaker rig, and were able to see and hear everything perfectly. When they launched into Danger, Danger, High Voltage, the crowd went made. Even better live than from the album. Another couple of tracks and then they were done.
After 5 minutes of chanting Gay Bar at the stage, they returned and did Radio Ga-Ga by Queen. Awesome fun. When they finished that song, the crowd imeediately started chanting again. Dick Valentine then challenged the crowd by saying "If you hear you say that one more time, I'm gonna shoot you motherfuckers in the head and then fuck the hole!"
The chanting didnt stop.
So they played Gay Bar and we went nuts. 1 more track and it was all over. Excellent gig.
Went to catch a taxi home and as I climbed in to ask how much to get home, I spied a 10 note on the floor of the taxi and picked it up. The taxi driver told me it was 40 to Weston, so I went to hand him the 10 note I'd found - but it was actually 4x 10 notes, so I got home for free. Someone went out last night and dropped their money, but I hope they would be pleased to know they had helped a drunk get home safely :)
Shell came round at 11am this morning to wake me up (although the postman had done a good job of that a little earlier). So we went shopping in town and I bought a load more presents for my mates children. I only need a couple more now and I am done. Asda here I come!
We then had lunch with Shell's Dad (Russell), step-mum and step-sister (Ella) - which he paid for. Top bunch of people. Also saw Mary (Ians mum) in there, which was quite funny.
Off out tonight and then a relaxing morning in bed tomorrow (I hope). Shell is working from 2pm til 8pm, so I will be driving up to Bristol to drop a PC off at Andys and pick up my stuff from the office that I left there last night.
