I have done the few 1000 thing and it was one of the best things ever. However I think you need to learn the skills with a set of decks and not some program on your laptop.......
now i am back we can try to sort out the amps, speakers etc.

Possibly a bit cheesy, but you could also get a smoke machine to go with your DJ setup - they are only about �20 on ebay.
